Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was born March 10, 1949. She is an American investor and speaker as well as consultant. She was the founder of The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001. She shortly thereafter exited the company. Corcoran has participated in 12 of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. In February of 2020 Corcoran was involved in 53 deals, the largest being a $350,000 deal that included 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second child of ten from a working-class Irish Catholic family. Florence Corcoran's mom, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran’s childhood. Her family often relied on free food deliveries from the local grocer. Corcoran is still able to remember her father as someone who was drunk often and was rude to her mother. Corcoran struggled in school, and she was later told she was dyslexic. Corcoran entered high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her time at an Catholic elementary school. Corcoran was fluent in several courses her first year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D.
