Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born on the 20th of October, 1964. She is an American politician. She is also the first vice president to be female and the highest-ranking female official in U.S. History, as well the first African American and second Asian American vice president. A member of the Democratic Party, she has previously served as attorney general of California from 2011 until 2017, and also as a United States senator representing California from 2011 to 2021. Born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris started her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. She was then hired to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. The office was named San Francisco district attorney in 2003. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she was re-elected. Harris was the junior United States senator from California from 2017 to 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the 2nd African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to serve as a senator in the United States Senate. As a senator she advocated healthcare reform, federal descheduling of cannabis, a pathway for immigrants who are not legal citizens as well as the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. She also backed progressive tax reform. Her most well-known accomplishments are her sharp questions to Trump administration officials during Senate hearings.
